It's almost Thanksgiving. Have you thought about which local foods you might celebrate with? We have turkey, lamb, ham and tofu! Maybe a few fruits and vegetables too! Plan ahead to give thanks for this wonderful local bounty!

We want to welcome a new meat supplier. Here is a little info about Top Market Meats:
Top Market Meats is your local meat farm. We offer a variety of meats from our farm to your family table. From Tamworth pork, beef, lamb, rabbit, goat, chicken, turkey, duck and goose, we got it! Whole cuts, specialized cuts, BBQ sausage, breakfast sausage, ground, bacon, steaks, chops, ribs, stewing, summer sausage and pepperettes.

What Top Market Meats is all about?
We are 5th generation local family farmers that believe in local food products and value in their worth. As a farming family we value raising local meats from our farm to your family table. Keeping with tradition and its importance on what we produce this will insure the best quality local meat products. Our new chicken Supplier - Lawrence Martin
Lawrence has raised happy chickens and wants to offer them to you. Here is what he says:
Do you have an appreciation for healthy, wholesome food?

Try our delicious chicken raised on pasture. The birds were raised in a portable shelter that was moved twice per day. Their feed was standard, non-medicated feed from our local feed mill. This helps keep our prices affordable because we believe that diet is a small part of the bigger picture.

Compared to conventional raised chickens these had a stress free environment. They had access to an adequate supply of green pasture, sunshine and fresh air. This means that they are drug free and are also free from fecal dust, found in birds kept inside.

Is it any wonder that housed birds need drugs in their feed and water to survive.

In our pen, there is absolutely no dust, zero fecal contamination. The result is a nutritious, dynamic chicken that tastes good and is fit to eat and enjoy.

Sounds good to me! All of their sausage (Country, Garlic or Italian) is available this week! You can choose to buy it as links or not!

Niagara Fruit
All our Niagara fruit is Tree Run, which means that the fruit is not sent to the grading station. The fruit is picked riper (and tastier) and avoids fungicidal baths and defuzzing of peaches. The size of the fruit may be bigger or smaller as well.

Here are the Niagara Fruit we have From Warner Farms this week:
Peaches: Cresthaven, and Babygold peaches and Nectarines too
Pears: Flemish Beauty, Clapp's Favourite, Bartlett and Bosc
Plums: Italian Prune plums, German Prune Plums(smaller and sweeter than the Italian prune plums), Violet plums (large, slightly tart, green flesh), Castleton plums (sweet, soft when cooked) and Vision plums (a large blue freestone)
Grapes: Vanessa (pink, tangy, seedless), Vineland Red (
large, crunchy, with seeds), NY Muscat (blue, with seeds), Sovereign Coronation (blue, virtually seedless), Himrod (green, seedless)

Be well,
Maryrose and Rachael
