Hello Folks,

From Rachael:
An apology to those who tried ordering last night at 11pm. There were some errors that needed fixing and since this ordering period is so long we fixed the errors before opening the order. Sorry for any inconvenience! We still haven't gotten updated information from some suppliers, so we'll let you know when we're adding new things and when we confirm some of your favourites such as Stemmler's which will be back on the order form as soon as we get their new price list!

Between pickups we have a few suppliers with extra product that can't wait. If you are interested in eggs as well as spinach and mesculn mix too(!!) let us know by filling in the form at http://tinyurl.com/mayeggs.

Have you had any luck finding local food at markets? Another market to check out is the Waterloo Farmers and Crafters' Market which is held Thursdays at the Waterloo Public Square. It is set to begin on May 19 this year. Come out for great seedlings, honey, cheeses and crafts. As the season progresses, fresh local fruits and vegetables will be available too!

From Maryrose:
Did you miss us? I wish I could say we have been getting a bit of R & R before the new weekly season begin on May 27th. We have been working behind the scenes trying to get as organized for a successful busy season ahead of us.

It has been really hard thinking and waiting for Spring with all the cold rainy weather we had in April. The growing season will be a bit late because of this, but hopefully once it starts it will be wonderful! I am excited to get my garden going this year. There will be seedlings available from Sarah's Kitchen Gardens starting this pick up (please read her note below). I was lucky enough to get Eva Weber's sprouted Dutch onions in the ground a few weeks back when we had a few warm days in a row. They are growing very well so far. I tried planting some peas from seed but I am not sure they have germinated.

We have the very first spring harvests to offer you on May 27th.
  • Asparagus and Rhubarb from Barrie Brothers and Paul Bowman
  • Cinnamon Honey from Bauman Apiaries
  • Winter Lettuce From Elvina Bauman

Here is a note from Sarah about her lovely seedlings:

Hello Bailey's Members,

I'm so pleased to be growing seedlings for you again this year! I've had some positive feedback from last year, and a few requests, so I've done my best to accommodate. I'm particularly excited about the Variegated Fish Peppers, which are a hot variety with variegated leaves and multicolour peppers. I can't wait to see them growing! Peppers love containers, so if you are growing on a balcony they would love to come home with you. I also have patio pots available, large 15" diameter fibre pots, 10" deep, that are planted with a variety of items. You can even customize your own pot - just send me an email and I'll put it together for you. Also email if you have any questions about what is being offered. SarahsKitchenGardens@gmail.com is my business email that I check personally. Thanks for your support, and happy growing!

Sarah
