I've been distracted with a bathroom renovation so despite the delay you can now order fruit and veggies for Tuesday!! I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend eating delicious fruit and ordering what I want for Tuesday and Friday.
Due to the cooler weather we still have Harrow Diamond Peaches for Tuesday. The Harrow Diamond is a smaller peach that comes away from the stone quite easily (although it is not classified as a free stone). They are delicious! Garnet Beauty Peaches will be next!
One of the things you'll notice about Tree Run Peaches is that they are not all ripe when you get them. Eat the ripe ones right away (yum!) and for the rest, spread them out on newspaper on their side or bottom (not stem down) and not touching each other and they'll ripen over the next few days. Peaches and apricots should stay out of the fridge until ripe (they can get a mealy texture when chilled). When my table is covered in fruit I keep a fan blowing over them to discourage fruit flies from landing.

  • Dandelion Ice Cream and Raspberry Ice Cream from Mapleton's Dairy. Order yours to be sure to get a pint (or two). Don't forget the other flavours too!
  • Sam Bowman (Bowman's Organic Produce) will be harvesting his entire broccoli crop! Get some to eat and lots  to freeze for winter soups!
  • Caramels from Hugo and Nate are back! They were recently featured in Chatelaine Magazine!
  • Stock up on Tortilla  Chips, Tacos, Tostadas and Corn Tortillas from McKechnie as well as Stone Ground and Mexican Wheat wraps as well as Noodles and Pasta from J&D Peters! We haven't had the full selection in a while, so get what you need this week!
  • Salsa from Barrie's Asparagus to dip your chips! We have mild, medium as well as corn and bean salsa!

A note about our fruit from Niagara

All our Niagara fruit is Tree Run, which means that the fruit is not sent to the grading station. The fruit is picked riper (and tastier) and avoids wax coatings, fungicidal baths and defuzzing in the case of peaches. You will find smaller and larger fruit together in your box.
Enjoy the ripest fruit first and for the rest, spread your peaches out on newspaper on their side or bottom (not stem down) and not touching each other and they'll ripen over the next few days.
Keep peaches and apricots out of the fridge until they are ripe as they can get a mealy texture when chilled.
