Tuesday Pickup at Entertaining Elements

You have until 4pm on Monday (yes, even on this holiday!) to order Grab Bags from Garden Party (Mixed Vegetables, Juicer Mix, or a Veggie stock kit) in the vegetables section and Niagara Fruit from Romagnoli Farms (Harrow Diamond Peaches, Apricots, Cherries, Nectarines and Plums) and no spray Blueberries from Walker's Blueberries (order ASAP!) in the fruit section for pickup at Entertaining Elements in Kitchener.
The Harrow Diamond is a smaller peach that comes away from the stone quite easily (although it is not classified as a free stone). They are delicious! Garnet Beauty Peaches will be next!

Friday's Pickup

Our first regular pickup in two weeks. What have you been missing?
  • Fruit, glorious fruit! This may be the last week for no spray blueberries from Walker's Blueberries in New Hamburg. Do you have enough in your freezer to last the winter?
  • Spud's Finest Potato Chips from Barrie's Asparagus should be back this week made with new crop potatoes! It's worth the wait!
  • We're restocked with Goat Cheese from Gordon's Goat Dairy. Look for the new Chili Cream Cheese!
  • Herbs from The Working Centre have been added! Look for Rosemary, Winter Savory, Leaf Fennel, Dill, Parsley, Basil, Sage, Thyme, Mint, Marjoram and Oregano. Don't forget their delicious pea shoots and microgreens!
  • Dandelion Ice Cream and Raspberry Ice Cream from Mapleton's Dairy. Order yours to be sure to get a pint (or two). Don't forget the other flavours too!
  • Sam Bowman (Bowman's Organic Produce) will be harvesting his entire broccoli crop! Get some to eat and lots  to freeze for winter soups!
  • Caramels from Hugo and Nate are back! They were recently featured in Chatelaine Magazine!
  • Stock up on Tortilla  Chips, Tacos, Tostadas and Corn Tortillas from McKechnie as well as Stone Ground and Mexican Wheat wraps as well as Noodles and Pasta from J&D Peters! We haven't had the full selection in a while, so get what you need this week!
  • Salsa from Barrie's Asparagus to dip your chips! We have mild, medium as well as corn and bean salsa!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Rachael

A note about our fruit from Niagara

All our Niagara fruit is Tree Run, which means that the fruit is not sent to the grading station. The fruit is picked riper (and tastier) and avoids wax coatings, fungicidal baths and defuzzing in the case of peaches. You will find smaller and larger fruit together in your box.
Enjoy the ripest fruit first and for the rest, spread your peaches out on newspaper on their side or bottom (not stem down) and not touching each other and they'll ripen over the next few days.
Keep peaches and apricots out of the fridge until they are ripe as they can get a mealy texture when chilled.
